Your Child’s Nervous System Is the Foundation of Everything. We Help It Function the Way It Was Designed To With Our Trusted Pediatric Chiropractor.
From the moment your child is born, their nervous system is working around the clock — running their digestion, their immune system, their sleep, their focus, and their ability to regulate emotions. When that system is under stress, it shows up everywhere. At The Wellness Path, we use gentle, neurologically-focused chiropractic care to find where the stress is stuck — and help your child’s body return to the state it was built for: calm, connected, and thriving.

It’s not about backs. It’s about communication.
Here’s the simplest way to understand it: think of your child’s brain as the command center, and their nerves as the cables running signals to every part of their body — their stomach, their ears, their lungs, even their emotions.
Kids absorb stress from the very beginning. It can be physical — the way they were positioned in the womb, a difficult delivery, a fall learning to walk. It can be chemical — what they eat, what they breathe. It can be emotional — the stress of school, transitions, sensory overload. When enough stress accumulates, it creates interference on the line. The brain tries to tell the digestive system to work, or the immune system to respond, but the signal gets garbled.
Pediatric chiropractic isn’t about cracking backs or treating pain. It’s about clearing that interference. We find where the nervous system is stuck in a stress response — what’s known as sympathetic dominance, or ‘fight or flight’ mode — and use gentle, specific adjustments to help it shift back into ‘growth and repair’ mode. When the communication is clear, the body does exactly what it was designed to do: heal itself.
Most of the conditions we see in children aren’t isolated problems. They’re signals from a nervous system that’s been under too much stress for too long. Our job is to find the source — and address it.
If it’s controlled by the nervous system, we can likely help
Parents bring their children to us for a wide range of reasons — from newborns to teenagers, from chronic health struggles to simply wanting their child to thrive at the highest level. Here’s what we see most often:
Newborn & Infant
Colic, reflux, gas, inconsolable crying (purple crying), latching difficulties, nursing issues, favoring one side (torticollis)
Immune & Respiratory
Chronic ear infections, recurring coughs, weakened immune system, seasonal allergies, frequent colds
Neurodevelopmental
ADHD, Autism Spectrum (ASD), Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), developmental delays, fidgety or hyperactive behavior
Emotional Regulation
Anxiety in children, frequent meltdowns, difficulty self-regulating, big emotional swings, trouble with transitions
Sleep
Trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, night terrors, restless sleep, bedwetting past expected age
Growth & Posture
Growing pains, poor coordination or clumsiness, posture issues from tech neck or heavy backpacks, scoliosis screening
The Domino Effect: Minor issues that seem unrelated are often part of the same chain. A difficult delivery can lead to chronic ear infections at 6 months, which can contribute to sensory issues at 6 years, which can surface as focus or behavioral challenges at 10. We treat the whole timeline, not just the symptom in front of us.

There’s a difference between a chiropractor who sees kids and a practice dedicated to the unique needs of infants and children.
Many chiropractors are willing to adjust a child. However, few have the advanced pediatric training, the neurological technology, advanced neurological approaches and the dedicated clinical focus to provide the level of care your child deserves.
Here is what sets Dr. Vic and The Wellness Path apart in Knoxville, Morristown, and Maryville:
CACCP Certified
Dr. Vic holds an advanced pediatric certification (CACCP) through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association — representing 200+ hours of specialized training in infant and child neurology, development, and technique. This is not a weekend seminar. It is one of the most rigorous pediatric credentials in the chiropractic profession.
Torque Release Technique (TRT)
We use a tonal, instrument-assisted approach. No cracking, no twisting, no manipulation. TRT uses a handheld instrument called the Integrator to deliver precise, low-force input to the nervous system. For children, it is extraordinarily gentle — and extremely effective.
The Neurological Lens
Most chiropractors look for structural alignment. Dr. Vic looks at neurological tone. Using INSiGHT technology — thermal scans, surface EMG, and heart rate variability — he can see precisely how your child’s nervous system is handling stress. We don’t guess. We test, measure, and track and perform additional neurological evaluations to get to the root cause.
Birth-to-Teen Expertise
We see children from the day they are born through their teenage years. Dr. Vic’s personal history — born bilateral clubfoot, bacterial meningitis as a child, years of immune dysfunction — gives him a perspective on childhood health struggles that goes beyond clinical training. He was the kid he now gets to help.
Here’s exactly what happens when you bring your child in.
We know walking into a new practice with your child takes trust. We want you to know exactly what you’re walking into.
The Deep Dive History
We spend real time on your child’s full story — starting from pregnancy and birth. Why? Because the nervous system’s baseline is often set before a child is even born. A forceps delivery, a C-section, a stressful pregnancy — these matter. The more we understand about the full timeline, the better we can identify the root cause.
The INSiGHT Neurological Scans
Your child will receive a series of painless neurological scans — no needles, no heat, no radiation. It works like a handheld thermometer that listens to how the nerves are communicating. The scans give Dr. Vic a precise, objective picture of where the nervous system is under stress and how severe that stress is while utilizing other neurological tests to have a full spectrum view on how well your child’s nervous system is functioning.
The Chiropractic Exam
Dr. Vic performs a hands-on exam tailored to your child’s age and situation — checking spinal structure, neurological reflexes, and overall function. For newborns and infants, this is an incredibly light, gentle process. For older children, it’s still low-force and quick.
The Adjustment (Newborns vs. Older Kids)
For a newborn: Dr. Vic uses no more pressure than you would use to check the ripeness of a tomato — often just a sustained, gentle fingertip contact. Babies frequently sleep through it or visibly relax. For a 10-year-old: he uses the Integrator instrument, which delivers a fast, light tap to specific spinal points. Kids often describe it as feeling like a ‘tickle.’ For both: no cracking, no twisting, no popping.
Day 2 – Your Child’s Plan
Just like adult care, we schedule a second appointment to review all scan results, scores, and findings. Dr. Vic will walk you through exactly what’s going on in your child’s nervous system, what it’s going to take to change it, and what a realistic care plan looks like.
First visit: approximately 45 minutes. Second visit is approximately 15-20 minutes. Ongoing wellness visits: about 5 minutes, designed to fit into a busy family’s schedule.
Questions parents ask us the most:
Is chiropractic care safe for babies and newborns?
Yes — pediatric chiropractic for infants is exceptionally safe when performed by a certified practitioner. Adjustments for newborns use approximately the same pressure you would use to check an avocado for ripeness — a light, gentle touch with a fingertip. There is no cracking, twisting, or manipulation. At The Wellness Path, Dr. Vic Manzo holds a CACCP certification — over 200 hours of specialized pediatric training — and uses instrument-assisted, tonal techniques specifically designed for infants. Many babies relax deeply or fall asleep during their adjustment.
Can a chiropractor help my child with ADHD, Autism, or Sensory Processing Disorder?
Chiropractic care does not treat ADHD, Autism, or Sensory Processing Disorder as diagnoses. However, children with these conditions frequently have a nervous system that is chronically stuck in a stress response — sometimes called sympathetic dominance or ‘fight or flight’ mode. When the nervous system is helped to shift out of that state and into a calmer, more regulated baseline, many parents observe meaningful improvements in their child’s focus, behavior, emotional regulation, and ability to feel safe in their own body. At The Wellness Path, we use neurological scanning technology to measure the level of stress in the nervous system and track changes over time.
My pediatrician says my baby will grow out of their colic or ear infections. Why should I see a chiropractor?
Many children do outgrow early symptoms — but the underlying nervous system stress that caused those symptoms often doesn’t resolve on its own. It simply changes form. The stress that showed up as colic in infancy may re-emerge as sensory issues at age 5, or as anxiety and focus challenges at age 10. At The Wellness Path, we look at the full developmental timeline and work to address the root cause of nervous system dysfunction early — rather than waiting to manage symptoms as they evolve.
How many chiropractic visits will my child need?
Every child is different, and the number of visits depends on what the neurological scans and evaluation show and how long the issue has been present. Most children begin with a more frequent initial phase — often two to three times per week for several weeks — to retrain the nervous system and build stability. From there, care typically transitions to a wellness schedule to maintain optimal function. Dr. Vic will give you a specific recommendation after reviewing your child’s Day 2 scan results.
Will the chiropractic adjustment hurt my child?
No. Pediatric adjustments at The Wellness Path are gentle, low-force, and painless. We use the Torque Release Technique (TRT) with a handheld instrument called the Integrator — not manual manipulation. Younger children and infants often find the adjustment so relaxing that they fall asleep immediately after, or experience a noticeable release in their system. Older children frequently describe the Integrator as feeling like a light tap or tickle. Parents are always present for their child’s entire visit. And with infants, we utilize a technique called, “Sustained Contact” which is the amount of pressure like feeling the ripeness of the tomato.
What is a Cranial Evaluation, and how is it different from Craniosacral Therapy?
While both recognize the importance of the skull, a clinical cranial evaluation at The Wellness Path focuses on the mechanical alignment and dural tension of the cranial bones rather than just the rhythmic flow of fluid. This objective assessment allows us to identify specific structural stressors that may be impacting your child’s nervous system development, nursing ability, or head shape. By focusing on these neurological indicators, we provide a precise clinical approach that goes beyond the generalized relaxation of traditional craniosacral techniques.
What are primitive reflexes, and why does Dr. Vic evaluate them?
Primitive reflexes are automatic movements essential for infant survival, but they must “integrate” into the nervous system as your child grows to make way for higher-level learning and coordination. At The Wellness Path, we evaluate these reflexes because “retained” patterns can signal neurological stress that may impact your child’s focus, emotional regulation, and motor skills. By assessing these foundational building blocks in Knoxville, Morristown, and Maryville, we ensure your child’s nervous system is clear of the interference that prevents natural development.
Do you help with airway health, tongue ties, or post-release care?
es; we focus heavily on the structural and neurological components of airway health, often collaborating with local specialists to support infants before and after a tongue or lip tie release. A tongue tie is more than just a “clip”—it involves the tension of the entire cranial-system and jaw, which we address to ensure proper suck-swallow-breathe patterns. Our goal is to reduce dural tension and body compensations, allowing your child to breathe, feed, and develop with a fully functional airway.
