Your Body Was Built for This. We Help It Get There.
Prenatal Chiropractor Serving East Tennessee — Knoxville, Morristown & Maryville
As the leading prenatal chiropractor in Knoxville TN, Dr. Vic and The Wellness Path team understand that pregnancy puts more demand on your nervous system, pelvis, and soft tissue than almost any other season of life. When everything is balanced — your pelvis level, your ligaments relaxed, your nervous system clear — your body knows exactly what to do. The Webster Technique is how we help you get there: less discomfort, a better environment for your baby to move into position, and a body that is ready for birth.

It’s not about your back. It’s about the environment your baby is growing in.
Here’s the simplest way to understand it. Think of your uterus like a balloon held in place by several sets of rubber bands — your ligaments. As your baby grows, those rubber bands stretch and tighten. If your pelvis or sacrum gets slightly shifted out of its ideal position, it pulls those rubber bands unevenly. That uneven tension creates tightness and cramping for you, and it limits the space available for your baby to move freely.
The Webster Technique is a specific, gentle chiropractic protocol designed for the pregnant pelvis. We check whether your sacrum and pelvis are balanced, and whether the ligaments supporting your uterus are carrying equal tension. We are not moving the baby. We are balancing the environment. When the house is level and the tension is released, your baby can naturally find the best position for birth — because that position is simply the most comfortable place for them to be.
Most of the discomfort pregnant women experience isn’t inevitable. It’s a signal that the pelvis is under uneven stress. Our job is to find the imbalance and clear it — so your body can do exactly what it was designed to do.
Why pregnant women call us — the full list.
Some moms come to us for relief. Some come to prepare for birth. Some come because they’ve been told their baby is in the wrong position. All of them leave with more than they expected.

Nervous System Stress
Pregnancy exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix, insomnia, heightened anxiety about labor, and the general sense of being overwhelmed are often nervous system signals — not just ‘normal pregnancy.’ We address these directly through the neurological component of Webster care.
Most chiropractors treat back pain. We prepare you for birth.
At The Wellness Path, we look at your pregnancy through the lens of what determines birth outcomes: the Three P’s — Power, Passage, and Passenger. Dr. Vic is Webster Certified through the ICPA, and every element of prenatal care here is built around optimizing all three.
THE POWER
Your nervous system. The nerves running through your lower spine control the strength and rhythm of uterine contractions. If there is interference in that signal, the ‘power’ to the uterus is dampened. We ensure the brain-to-uterus connection is fully clear.
THE PASSAGE
Your pelvis and sacrum. A tilted or locked pelvis is like trying to drive through a garage door that’s only half open. We ensure the passage is balanced, wide, and flexible — giving your baby the clearest possible path.
THE PASSENGER
Your baby. When the Power and Passage are both optimized, your baby is free to move into the ideal vertex (head-down) position on their own — because that position is simply the most comfortable place for them to be in a balanced environment.
Webster Certification — What It Actually Means
Webster Certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) is a specific clinical credential for the pregnant neuro-biomechanical system. It is not a weekend course. It represents advanced training in the physiology of pregnancy, the mechanics of labor and birth, and the specific soft tissue and sacral analysis protocols used in Webster care.
Dr. Vic brings this training together with his broader neuro-focus — using INSiGHT scans to measure nervous system stress objectively at each visit, not just adjusting based on how you feel that day plus advance prenatal evaluation and techniques.
Here’s exactly what happens — including the part every pregnant mom loves.
We understand that your energy is limited and that getting comfortable on a chiropractic table sounds intimidating when you’re pregnant. We’ve thought of all of it.
1. The Pregnancy Pillows — Your Favorite Part
We have specialized cushions with belly cutouts that allow you to lie face-down safely throughout your pregnancy. For most moms, this is the first time in months they’ve been able to lie on their stomach. The relief is immediate — and many women tell us this alone is worth the visit.
2. The Neurological Scan
We use the INSiGHT thermal scan to map exactly where your nervous system is under the most stress. It is completely safe for your baby — no radiation, no heat, no risk. This gives Dr. Vic an objective picture of what your nervous system is carrying before he begins.
3. Sacral and Ligament Assessment
3 Sacral and Ligament Assessment
Dr. Vic performs a gentle analysis of your sacrum, pelvis, and round ligaments to identify where imbalance and tension are present. This is a hands-on assessment — not a scan — and it is the foundation of Webster care. In addition, we also assess the soft tissues that are connected or affect the sacrum and pelvis.
4. The Webster Adjustment
The sacral adjustment uses a light drop-piece on the table or a gentle instrument — a soft click or tap, no aggressive twisting. The ligament work involves a light, sustained fingertip pressure on the round ligaments to allow them to release. Most women describe it as deeply relaxing. Many feel their belly soften and settle almost immediately.
5. Trimester-Specific Focus
Every trimester has a different priority. First trimester: calming the nervous system to support energy and reduce nausea. Second trimester: balancing the pelvis as your center of gravity shifts. Third trimester: regular balance checks to ensure maximum room for your baby to descend and rotate as birth approaches. Then the 4th Trimester is all about helping mom’s body restore, re-rebalance, and recover.
The questions pregnant women ask at 2am.
Is chiropractic care safe during pregnancy — including the third trimester?
Yes. Webster-certified chiropractic care is safe throughout all trimesters, including the final weeks before birth. In fact, the third trimester is one of the most valuable times to receive care — keeping the pelvis balanced and mobile in the final weeks has been associated with shorter labor times and reduced need for medical interventions. At The Wellness Path, Dr. Vic uses gentle, instrument-assisted techniques and pregnancy-specific positioning cushions that keep both mother and baby comfortable throughout the visit. We have adjusted mothers who were already in early labor.
Can a chiropractor help my breech baby turn?
Chiropractors do not flip or manually reposition babies — that is a medical procedure called an External Cephalic Version (ECV) performed by an OB. What the Webster Technique does is different: it balances the pelvis and releases tension in the uterine ligaments. When the uterine environment is no longer twisted or restricted, most babies will naturally move into the head-down position on their own because that is the most comfortable position available to them. Many mothers see their baby shift to vertex position following Webster care, though results vary and cannot be guaranteed.
Will the chiropractic adjustment hurt my baby?
No. The Webster Technique uses no force that reaches the baby directly. The adjustment focuses on the mother’s sacrum and ligaments using light, precise input — not manual manipulation of the abdomen or uterus. Most babies respond positively after an adjustment: you may feel your baby become more active as they suddenly have more room to move, or they may settle into a quiet, relaxed state as your stress hormones drop. The INSiGHT thermal scan used at every visit is also 100% safe — no radiation, no heat.
What about chiropractic care after the baby is born?
Postpartum care — what we call the fourth trimester — is one of the most overlooked and important phases. After delivery, your body undergoes a significant hormonal shift and your pelvis begins the process of returning to its pre-pregnancy state. Nursing posture (sustained forward head position while feeding) creates significant upper back and neck stress. Postpartum chiropractic care helps reset the pelvis after the physical demands of birth, supports faster recovery, and helps your nervous system regulate during a period of significant hormonal change. We see mothers as early as a few days after delivery.
My OB or midwife hasn’t mentioned chiropractic. Should I check with them first?
You are always welcome to loop in your birth provider — and many mothers do. Most OBs and midwives are supportive of Webster-certified chiropractic care because they see the results: better-positioned babies, less maternal discomfort, and smoother labors. If your provider has specific concerns, we are happy to co-manage your care and communicate directly with your birth team. Webster-certified chiropractic care is not in conflict with any standard obstetric care.
Your pregnancy doesn’t have to feel like something to survive. It can feel like something to thrive through.
