I was 19 years old, playing rugby at Arizona State, and my health was falling apart.

I could run 5-minute miles. I could lift. I was in the best physical shape of my life. And yet I couldn’t sleep. I had constant headaches, sensitivity to light, chronic fatigue, acne, dark circles, digestive issues, and I was getting sick every single month. My GPA was dropping because I couldn’t retain information the way I used to. I was doing everything right — supplements, diet, training — and nothing was working.

I called my mom and told her I thought I had a blood disorder. She booked me with a medical doctor. Then almost as an afterthought she said, ‘Why don’t you go see Dr. Frank first?’ Dr. Frank was her chiropractor — she’d been seeing him for almost 20 years.

I went. Got my exam. The next day he told me what was going on — I had scoliosis and significant spinal issues affecting my entire nervous system. He said he could get me out of my symptoms in about two months if I was aggressive with care. He also told me I couldn’t play rugby anymore. That my spine couldn’t handle it.

“I listened to everything he told me. Two months later, every single symptom was gone. I felt like a completely different person.”

That’s when I knew. I had been studying computer science. I changed everything. I went home, got prepared, and went to chiropractic school. Not because I wanted to treat back pain — but because I had seen what happens when the nervous system functions the way it was designed to. And I needed more people to know this was possible.

I was the kid I now get to help.

I was born bilateral clubfoot. I had multiple ear infections as a child — round after round of antibiotics — until my immune system was so depleted that I developed bacterial meningitis. I was having seizures. My cousin, who was babysitting me, picked me up and ran to the hospital a block and a half away. The doctor told my family that if I hadn’t arrived in the next 20 or 30 minutes, I wouldn’t have made it.

I survived. But I spent years of my childhood in a body that wasn’t functioning the way it should have been. Years of suffering that, looking back, didn’t have to happen.

When I was about five years into practice, I came across a statistic that stopped me: 53% of children now have a chronic illness. I couldn’t change all of that. But I made a decision — I was not going to allow that to be the story for families in my community if I could help it.

I got certified in pediatric chiropractic. I studied from the best in the profession. I wanted to understand how to help children return to the essence of what they’re designed to be — happy, healthy, and vibrant. The kid I wish I could have been. The kid I now get to help every single week.

Why I Became a Neuro-Focused Chiropractor?

In chiropractic school, the subject that fascinated me most was neurology. I had one of the best neurology educators in the entire profession as my teacher for half my training, and I picked his brain every chance I got. The nervous system is the master communication system of the body. It controls everything. If something is wrong — digestion, sleep, immune function, mood, healing — start with the control system.

Over the years I kept asking one question: how can I help my patients get results faster, go deeper, and achieve outcomes that general chiropractic alone can’t reach? That question led me to every advanced technique and systematic approach we now use at The Wellness Path — your chiropractor in East Tennessee.

To help East Tennessee families thrive — not just survive. We believe the body is designed to heal itself when the nervous system is free from interference. Every service we offer, every technique we use, every patient we see is guided by one principle: remove the obstacle, and the body does the rest.

“As your chiropractor in East Tennessee, families come to us to thrive — not just survive.”

Most healthcare operates from a mechanistic model — something is wrong, find it, fix it, prescribe for it. We operate from a vitalistic model. We believe the body has an innate intelligence expressed through the nervous system. Our job is not to override that intelligence but to support it.

This is why we focus on the nervous system first, always. Not because we ignore symptoms — but because when the nervous system is functioning at its highest level, the symptoms often resolve on their own. The body already knows how to heal. We just have to get out of the way.

We’re not here to manage your condition. We’re here to help you become the healthiest version of yourself — and to help your family do the same.

Curious about the actual clinical process? Here’s what a first pediatric visit looks like — from the intake through the functional neurological exam to the adjustment and the care plan.

Whether you’re a parent looking for answers for your child, an adult who has tried everything and is still struggling, or an athlete who wants to perform at the highest level — we’d love to meet you. Your first step is a conversation. Tell us what’s going on. We’ll tell you honestly whether we can help or find someone who can.

What does neuro-focused chiropractic mean?

It means the nervous system is the starting point for every clinical decision. Rather than working from symptoms alone, Dr. Vic performs a hands-on functional neurological exam — eye tracking, balance, coordination, respiratory function and reflex testing — to find where communication between brain and body is breaking down, then targets what the exam actually found.
