What the INSiGHT CLA Scan Actually Measures — In Plain Language
Understanding the technology behind every care plan at The Wellness PathBefore we recommend a single adjustment, we scan. Before we create a care plan, we have data. Before we claim something is changing, we measure it. This is what sets a neuro-focused chiropractic practice apart from a pain management practice — and the INSiGHT CLA scanning system is the technology that makes it possible.
What the INSiGHT CLA System Is
The INSiGHT CLA — Chiropractic Leadership Alliance — is a NASA-certified, FDA-registered neurological scanning system used by neuro-focused chiropractors worldwide. It measures three distinct dimensions of nervous system function simultaneously, generating a composite picture of how the nervous system is actually performing — not how it feels, not what it looks like on an x-ray, but what it is actually doing neurologically.
The Thermal Scan
The thermal scan measures temperature differences between the left and right sides of the spine. Your autonomic nervous system — the part controlling your organs, immune function, digestion, and hormones — regulates circulation and temperature. When subluxations are present, they create asymmetrical autonomic interference that shows up as temperature differences at the skin surface. The pattern of thermal asymmetry tells us which organ systems and body regions are being affected by nervous system interference.
The Surface EMG
The surface EMG measures the electrical activity in the muscles supporting your spine — muscles that are entirely neurologically controlled. When subluxations are present, some muscles become chronically overactive and others become underactive. The sEMG maps these imbalances across the full spine and shows us how much neurological energy your body is spending on compensation — energy that is not available for healing, immunity, or vitality.
Heart Rate Variability
HRV measures the variation between heartbeats — a direct measurement of autonomic nervous system flexibility and vagal tone. High HRV means the nervous system is adaptive and resilient. Low HRV means it is rigid and stress-dominant. It is the most validated clinical marker of overall nervous system health and is directly influenced by spinal subluxation patterns.
The CoreScore — Your Nervous System’s Starting Point
The three scans combine into a single composite number — the CoreScore — running from 0 to 100. Higher scores reflect a more balanced, efficient, and resilient nervous system. The CoreScore gives patients a concrete, trackable baseline that makes the progress of care objectively visible. It is not just “my back feels better.” It is “my CoreScore has improved from 42 to 67 over eight weeks” — a measurable reflection of what is actually changing in the nervous system.
Health is something you measure, not just feel. The INSiGHT scans give us the objective data to build care plans that target the right areas, track real progress, and know — not just hope — that the nervous system is genuinely changing. If you have never had your nervous system objectively assessed, your NeuroFoundation Assessment is where that starts.

I’ve said it to hundreds of families across East Tennessee — and I mean it every time: I’ve never once wished I could do less for a child’s nervous system. Only more.
If something in this post resonated with you — if you read it thinking about a specific little one in your life — that’s worth paying attention to. The nervous system is involved in everything: sleep, digestion, regulation, development, immunity.
If you’re in East Tennessee and ready to get a real look at what’s happening in your child’s nervous system — I’d love to be that next step for your family.
